Email FAQs

What is POP?

POP (or technically POP3) stands for Post Office Protocol.

POP refers to a method of retreiving emails from a server onto a computer.  POP moves an email message, in it’s entirety, from the email server onto your local device. POP3 will download mail to your device, removing it from the server, therefore this option is best used when viewing mail on a single device only.

What is IMAP?

IMAP stands for Internet Message Access Protocol.

Unlike POP, when IMAP retrieves email from a server, it only retrieves a local copy of the message, leaving the email stored on the server. This means emails can be retrieved simultaneously by multiple clients/devices.  IMAP will sync mail from the server without downloading it to your device, therefore this option is best when wanting to view mail on multiple devices, i.e. desktop, iPad and phone.

In order to buy an email address, do I need to own the domain name?

Yes. The domain will become the part after the "@" symbol in your email address and therefore you have to own the domain. This also helps build your brand and help you gain credibility with a professional, personalised email address.

What do I do if I don't own the domain name I want for my email?

Do not worry - get in touch and we will help you both register the domain you want and setup your personalised email.

How long does it take to setup email?

Once you have chosen your email package and own your domain, we can have you setup within a matter of minutes. For larger setups with many aliases, we will work with you to ensure a successful setup.

What happens if I go over quota?

Your email will let you know if you are close to going over quota and first ask you to clear out your mail. If you continue to go over quota, your mail will fail to send/receive and it is best to contact us to see how we can help either clearing your mailboxes or upgrading your email package.

What do I do if I have a problem with my email?

Simply give us a call. We are a UK based firm and provide email support Monday-Friday 09:00-17:00. Outside of these hours, email us and we will get back to you.

We also have extensive support material available for queries relating to reducing your mailbox storage usage and setting up your email on various devices.
